About Us

Color Club is lovingly owned and operated by husband and wife team, Josh Dihle and Abby Monroe.

Josh is a professional artist and professor of painting and drawing at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). Abby is a community engagement consultant and event producer. Together, at Color Club, they aim to provide a home for creative expression and meaningful gathering.

Built in 1922, the building that is now Color Club was first the meeting place of Chicago’s Independent Order of Vikings. The Latvian Community Center and Folk Art Museum took ownership in 1958 and have celebrated countless occasions within the building’s two ballrooms, tavern, museum and more.

We often provide complimentary ice water and you may bring an empty, reusable water bottle, if desired.

  • Performances generally begin 30 minutes after doors open, however set times are always subject to change without notice. Timeline details are provided on DICE ticket listings when known. If you are excited to see an opening artist, we suggest you arrive when doors open to ensure you catch them!

  • Color Club does not have a customer parking lot, but there is ample, free street parking available on most of the surrounding side streets. If you park in the lot of another business, you are subject to their towing policies.

Color Club is a 10-minute walk from the Irving Park Blue Line station.
